On October 4th, St. Francis’ Episcopal held a service in the Sanctuary for the first time since March. The service was attended by our Rector Eric Metoyer, The Rev. Dominic George, and Lay Eucharistic Minister Fred Dick, all wearing masks and socially distanced. The congregation was able to watch on Zoom or on our new YouTube Channel. You can watch a recording of the service by clicking here.
In union, O Lord, with the faithful of your Church where the Holy Eucharist is now being celebrated, we desire to offer you praise and thanksgiving. We present to you our souls and bodies with the earnest wish that we may always be united to you. And since we cannot now receive you sacramentally, we beseech you to come spiritually into our hearts. We unite ourselves with you and embrace you with all the love of our souls. Let nothing ever separate you from us. May we live in you, and may you live in us, both in this life and in the life to come. Amen. (from the Order of Julian of Norwich)
On the Feast of St Francis, our parish celebrated the Eucharist. We were not in the same building, we did not taste bread and wine; however, we were divinely connected in that room in our hearts, just as St John the Gospeler wrote. Connected via the bread and wine made holy, with one another. As we said the prayer above, we continued to receive spiritually what we could not sacramentally, and be united with the Body of Christ at St Francis’, as well as with the wider Church and the world. Let nothing ever separate us. With blessings and praises be, Amen.
