Eucharistic Ministers

The canons (rules) of the Episcopal Church provide many opportunities for leadership by lay members (members who are not clergy) to be involved in the worship activities of the church. Eucharistic Ministers and Eucharistic Visitors are laypersons who have received special training and are licensed by the diocese to assist the priest with certain duties pertaining to the celebration of the Eucharist and taking the Eucharist to those unable to attend services at church. They serve as chalice bearers during the Eucharist and – with a special additional license – take communion out directly after the Eucharist to the elderly and disabled in the parish.
