Godly Play

A Montessori-based Sunday School Program

Storytellers “tell” the story and the “greeter” assists in the background.

Godly Play has a curriculum that is very easy to follow. In addition, we supplement with art days and special projects to provide some variety and breaks for storytellers. Some of our projects have included making sandwiches for the homeless, Christmas, Valentine and Easter cards for shut-in’s and communion bread for our worship.

Is there a project you’d like to head up? Would you love to tell a story? We provide training and support.

Godly Play is a complete service in itself for the youth. In addition to having a story (lesson) and time to reflect through play (i.e., art or discussion among themselves), we end each session with a prayer circle. During this time, the children pray and have the opportunity to share and support each other. The age range of participants in our Godly Play gathering is second grade through sixth grade.

The number of children who attend Godly Play varies from week to week. Our “high” number has been 12 and “low” 2. We average about 5 children a week.
