A Note on Morning Prayer
Dear Church,
It continues to be an honor and a privilege to pray Morning Prayer inside the church Monday through Friday mornings. I hope that you have had the opportunity to watch the service on St. Francis’ YouTube Channel. I try to have the service posted by 9am, but most mornings they are not posted until later, but usually by 9:30. Morning Prayer is a wonderful faith-based way of beginning each day and have found it a blessing in my life. I hope that you will also.
I would like to take this opportunity to remind you of the schedule I will follow for Morning Prayer services. Weeks that begin on the first, third, or fifth Monday of the month, I will pray Morning Prayer using Rite II from The Book of Common Prayer. For the weeks that begin on the second Monday of the month, I will pray the service using Rite I. During the week that begins on the fourth Monday of the month, I will pray Morning Prayer from Enriching Our Worship I, a wonderful additional resource approved by the Episcopal Church.
If you do not have The Book of Common Prayer at home, click here for an online version. Enriching Our Worship I is found here. These are both free resources available for our use.
I will now be doing a sung Morning Prayer service once a week. These will occur on Friday of each week. There are beautiful chant settings of the prayers and canticles that are rarely heard in our churches. I look forward to sharing them with you. I also look forward to singing some of our lesser known hymns.
Peace be with you all,
Colby
