Every holiday season, St. Francis’ Episcopal Church partners with Girl Scout Troop #62422 to literally spread some warmth by collecting donations of new and gently worn coats for the children, families, veterans, seniors, and homeless at St Anthony’s. The unprecedented crisis created by the Covid-19 Pandemic is impacting the lives of millions of people. Families who were already struggling are now at severe risk, and many will be unable to pay their utility bills. The need for coats this fall and winter is greater than ever before.
The St Francis’ Community has been part of this effort for over ten years. The One Warm Coat non-profit organization started right here in San Francisco with a group of friends, and now has helped facilitate coat drives in ALL 50 states and 10 countries! Since its beginning 28 years ago, 6.6 million coats have been collected!
Thank you for generously supporting our One Warm Coat Drive! Collectively, we have donated 887 coats to those in need!
We have seen such giving and true nature from those who have taken the time to go through their family’s closets to give their gently used coats a second life, those who have purchased new coats, and children who have used their chore money to do so. The coat donation drive-through at the Girl Scout Camp Ida Smith on Lake Merced Blvd. the day after Thanksgiving was extremely successful. This certainly has been a coat drive to remember thanks to all of you.
