Our annual Giving Tree campaign looked a little different this year. Most years, parishioners choose an ornament off a Christmas tree in the Parish Hall, which indicates the name of a shelter resident and their gift request. Because of Covid constraints, we accepted donations directly to the church to cover the costs of towel sets for the residents of The Alder Hotel in the Tenderloin. Sixty residents of the Alder Hotel at 175 6th Street received two bath towels and two washcloths. Our donations were so vitally important for people in our city whose only request for Christmas was a towel.
Through the warmth and generosity of our parishioners, an additional $415 in Amazon gift cards was provided to ECS for other residents in hotel housing.
